Apple OS X Security Update
Apple has released a security update for Mac OS X to correct a series of problems and vulnerabilities and include improvements. These updates are available at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
It is recommended to install the Mac OS X Server 10.4.6 Server Update on all servers as it includes general operating system fixes and improvements and updates for applications, services and technologies.
The operating system security flaw that has been corrected is related to the firmware password, which can be bypassed on Intel-based Macintosh computers.
The updates and improvements include updates of access controls, authentication and login in Open Directory and Active Directory environments; stability of NFS services; memory leakage during heavy FTP use; improved printed quotas; a problem with launchd that prevents periodic scripts from running at the wrong time or at all, etc.
We recommend users to update their systems, taking the appropriate measures to prevent malfunctioning due to incorrect installation of the updates.
